Tankara to get Municipality status; Non-agriculture areas of 8 villages added to Himmatnagar town

Gandhinagar: Gujarat government has today decided to convert Tankara gram panchayat into Nagarpalika (Municipality) by merging two local gram panchayats. Tankara has 22,000 population. The decision according to the State government has been taken to mark 200th birth anniversary of Maharshi Dayanand Saraswati, founder of Arya Samaj who was born here. Two gram panchayats Aryanagar and Kalyanpar will be merged with Tankara gram panchayat for Municipality status to Tankara.

In another decision, the society areas of Balwantpura(Nava), Berna, Kanknol, Hadiyel, Piplodi, Katwad, Parabada and Savgadh villages are added to Himmatnagar Municipality limits. With this, the Civil hospital of Himmatnagar is also added to the limits of Himmatnagar town. The decision has been taken to widen the roads, ease the issue of traffic and infrastructure facilities to periphery area villages for future development.

The Chief Minister has given directives to merge bin kheti (non-agriculture) areas of 8 villages with Himmatnagar municipality and offer basic services like street light, water, gutter system etc. DeshGujarat
