Ahmedabad: Chandkheda police arrested three individuals on Sunday for betting during the IPL match between Gujarat Titans (GT) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium.
According to the FIR, Police Constable Chirag Jayram received a tip-off around 5:30 am about a man soliciting bets on the match. Upon investigation, Dipak Mohanani, 34, from Himmatnagar, was found betting for seventeen clients, with master IDs obtained from Rajesh Maheshwari of Deesa.
In another incident, Chandkheda police constable Mayur Arjunsinh found Shubham Parmar, 28, of Parmeshwar Society in Chandkheda, placing bets. Parmar disclosed he obtained the gambling app ID through Instagram.
In a third case, Chandkheda police constable Rajnish Hari arrested Priyank Darji resident of Sector 14 in Gandhinagar for betting. Darji confessed to obtaining the betting app ID from a person named Vishal in Ahmedabad. All three were caught from different seats during the match and booked under the Prevention of Gambling Act.
It is noteworthy that in-stadium betting carries both risks and advantages. Watching the match live in the stadium gives bettors an advantage, as there is a slight delay in the live broadcast on television or streaming platforms. DeshGujarat
