BJP candidate Chirag Patel wins Khambhat assembly bypoll in Gujarat

Khambhat: At the end of the counting of votes through all 17 rounds, ruling Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP) candidate Chirag Patel won the by-election of Khambhat assembly seat in Central Gujarat by getting 87,707 votes. Chirag Patel won the election by a margin of 38,202 votes against the nearest rival candidate Mahendrasinh Parmar who could get 49,505 votes. An independent candidate Mahipatsinh Chauhan got 15,631 votes. The by-poll was necessited due to resignation of Chirag Patel as Congress MLA. He then joined BJP and contested the by-poll as BJP candidate. DeshGujarat
