Gujarat govt’s GCAS mess: Only 10,000 confirm admissions to GU-affiliated colleges
June 27, 2024
Ahmedabad: Approximately 51,000 students who registered via the Gujarat Common Admission Portal (GCAS) were allocated seats in arts, commerce, and science colleges affiliated with Gujarat University. However, only 10,000 of them have confirmed their admission in the initial round.
This indicates that many students either still lack a seat or have secured admission in other universities.
Amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the GCAS portal, it is learned that after registration, a merit list was submitted to Gujarat University, resulting in admissions for 51,000 students. The deadline for confirming admissions was June 25, yet only 10,000 students confirmed their admissions before the deadline.
Meanwhile, Gujarat University’s Samarth Portal, used for processing admissions for postgraduate courses, is unable to allocate seats to students. Due to this issue, the university administration has instructed course coordinators to process applications manually. DeshGujatat
