Gujarat govt signs MoU with Microsoft to establish AI Center of Excellence at GIFT City

Gandhinagar: The Gujarat government signed an MoU with Microsoft on Saturday to establish an Artificial Intelligence (AI) Center of Excellence at GIFT City. The MoU was signed in the presence of Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel in a program held by the Science and Technology Department in Gandhinagar.
Microsoft, NASSCOM, and IBM have collaborated with the Gujarat government to advance AI capabilities in the state. The government has signed an MoU with Microsoft to set up an AI Center of Excellence at GIFT City. This initiative is part of efforts to position Gujarat as a Global Gateway to the Future.
NASSCOM has also partnered with the state to enhance AI capabilities, supporting AI model development across government and private sectors. IBM will contribute through its Watson-X platform, focusing on the banking, financial services, and insurance sectors at GIFT City.
Several leading companies including IBM, NVIDIA, AWS, TCS, and L&T Edutech have joined as course providers for institutions like GTU, IITRAM, PDPU, and Ganpat University in Gujarat.
Speaking on the occasion, Bhupendrabhai Patel stated, “This MoU with IBM will help Gujarat to lead the country in efforts to adopt AI and drive digital transformation.” Moreover, Sandip Patel, Managing Director of IBM India & South Asia, expressed optimism about the collaboration’s impact on Gujarat’s digital transformation journey, aiming to provide cutting-edge AI solutions to the growing financial sector in GIFT City.
