North Gujarat catches up on rainfall; state completes 20.15% of average monsoon season

Gandhinagar: North Gujarat, which was lagging behind in receiving monsoon rain, has now caught up with around 5.2 inches of rain in the last 24 hours ending at 6 am today. Moreover, parts of the region received up to 7.8 inches of rain in just four hours today from 6 am to 10 am.
According to data from the State Emergency Operation Center in Gandhinagar, North Gujarat, which had only completed 6.13% of its average monsoon rain by July 1st, has now reached 13.71% as of this morning.
During the last 24 hours ending at 6 am this morning, Kadi taluka in Mahesana received up to 5.2 inches of rain, followed by Idar in Sabarkantha with 3.22 inches of rain. On Wednesday, all the districts of North Gujarat received rainfall, with Mahesana and Sabarkantha topping the chart. However, today Danta taluka in Banaskantha has received the highest rainfall, up to 7.87 inches in just four hours.
Looking at the statewide picture, during the last 24 hours ending at 6 am today, a total of 110 talukas in the state witnessed rainfall. Among these talukas, only 11 received over an inch of rain. Kadi and Idar received over 3 inches of rain, while Hansot, Netrang, Jotana, Prantij, Bhiloda, Vijapur, Mansa, Himmatnagar, and Palanpur received between 1 to 3 inches.
Today, during 6 am to 10 am, rainfall occurred in 44 talukas of the state. Banaskantha, Narmada, Bharuch, Mahesana, and Sabarkantha are the top 5 districts today in rainfall.
Meanwhile, Gujarat has completed 20.15% of the average monsoon season rainfall (10 years average) so far this year. Saurashtra has received 29.15% of its rainfall, Kutch has seen 25.59%, South Gujarat has witnessed 20.97%, and North Gujarat and East Central Gujarat have received around 13.71% and 12.95% respectively.
With Danta receiving the highest rainfall today, waterlogging has been reported in the government hospital. The rainwater reached inside the rooms where patients are admitted.
In Palanpur, nearly 2 inches of rain fell in two hours, filling the Kirti Stambha area with water. Traders are in trouble as rainwater seeps into their shops. Low-lying areas were knee-deep in water due to the rain, causing difficulties for pedestrians and vehicle drivers.
Heavy rains since yesterday have caused flooding in many places in Kadi. The underbridge on Thola Road was submerged, resembling a swimming pool due to the torrential rain. In Jaygurudev Nagar Society on Karananagar Road, water entered, affecting residential areas. The Gayatri temple also experienced flooding. Homes were inundated, causing household items to get soaked. The situation made it difficult for residents to sleep through the night.
