Holy Shravan Month 2024 in Gujarat begins on Monday 5 August, to end on Monday September 2

Gandhinagar: The auspicious month of Shravan as per the Gujarati Hindu Vikram Samvat calendar 2080 will start on August 5 and end on September 2, 2024. Some of the major festivals during the month will include Janmashtami, Raksha Bandhan, Nag Panchami, Shitla Satam, Durgashtami, Dashama vrat, and Shivratri. Apart from this, the holidays of Independence Day and Pateti will also come in this period.

Shravan is considered a holy month dedicated to bhakti, puja, and the archana of Hindu gods. Mondays during Shravan are considered most auspicious. Devotees visit Shiv Mandirs in large numbers on Mondays (Somvar) and offer milk and bili tree leaves to Shiv linga. Many people also observe fasts during the month of Shravan, including the Farali fast, in which only fruits will be consumed.

Mondays of Shravan (Shravan Somvar) when Shiv puja takes place fall on 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th August and on 2nd of September this year.

Nag Panchami will be marked on 9th August, while Randhan Chatth shall be marked on 10th August. Shitala Satam will be marked on 11th August.

Nariyeli Punam will be marked on 19th August, which will also mark the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

On 19th August, the Amar Nath yatra will conclude.

Shri Krishna Jayanti, Janmashtami, will be marked on August 26th.

Nand Mahotsav will be celebrated on 27th August.

Aja Ekadashi (Shravan Vad Agiyaras) will fall on 29th August.

Paryushan will begin on August 31st for some and on September 1st for some others.

The festival season after Shravan will continue with celebrations of Ganesh Chaturthi and Samvatsari on 7th September, Anant Chaturdashi on 17th September, Navratri starting from 3rd October, Vijaya Dashmi-Dussehra on 12th October, Sharad Purnima on 16th October, and so on. DeshGujarat
