Withdrawal of Southwest Monsoon 2024 begins today from parts of West Rajasthan and Kutch

Kutch: After a delay of around a week, the withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon 2024 started today from parts of West Rajasthan and Kutch.

According to the official bulletin from the IMD, the Southwest Monsoon has withdrawn from some parts of West Rajasthan and Kachchh as of today, September 23, 2024, compared to the normal date of September 17.

The line of withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon passes through Anupgarh, Bikaner, Jodhpur, Bhuj, and Dwarka.

Conditions are favorable for further withdrawal of the Southwest Monsoon from additional parts of West Rajasthan and adjoining areas of Punjab, Haryana, and Gujarat in the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, according to data from the State Emergency Operation Center until 6 AM on September 22, the state of Gujarat has received over 125.28% of its average seasonal rainfall. The state recorded 1,106.22 mm of rain this year, against the average of 883 mm (average from the years 1994-2023).

Kutch has received 888.90 mm of rain, which is 183% of its average rainfall, while Saurashtra got 957.74 mm, nearly 130%. South Gujarat witnessed 1,935.91 mm of rainfall this season, which is also 130% of the average.
