Vadodara: Vadodara Municipal Corporation today cut off the water, electricity, and drainage connections of illegally built house of Munna Banjara, one of the main accused in the Bhayli minor gang rape case.
There has been public outrage after a minor girl was raped on the night of October 4th in the Bhayli area. All five accused involved in the crime are migrant Muslims from Uttar Pradesh. Among them, the first accused, Munna Banjara (27), is a resident of Ekta Nagar in the Kali Talavdi area of Tandalja. He is from Gaunra in Uttar Pradesh. Munna has allegedly built a house illegally on government land, and the city civic body had served notice regarding this issue, giving him three days to clear the encroachment. However, as no action was taken, the VMC cut off the connections to the illegal house today.
Local corporator Nitin Donga was also present with the VMC team and said, “We have to demolish this house, but as the Supreme Court guidelines mandate that its permission is needed to demolish even the illegal encroachment, we are acting as per our authority and cutting off the power and water connections. Furthermore, we will request the collector to approach the Supreme Court to get permission to demolish the house.”
“In our country, we call Nari ‘Narayni,’ so such accused shall be hanged. In Surat, one accused died similarly; all such accused shall shiver, and their hearts shall stop,” the corporator further said.
