Rapists shall be finished in encounters: Dabhoi MLA Shailesh Mehta on rape cases involving migrants

Vadodara: Shailesh Mehta (Sotta), BJP MLA from Dabhoi, has called for harsher penalties for criminals involved in rape cases. While pointing out that most of the accused in the recent rape cases in Gujarat are migrants, Mehta stated that the police should be given the authority to conduct encounters in such cases.

Dabhoi MLA Shailesh Mehta said, “Rape cases are increasing, and cases of violence against daughters are rising. To raise awareness about this issue, the youth here have played a Garba, holding posters against rape. I want to commend these young people for their efforts, as such awareness is crucial in our society. Three incidents of rape occurred, first in Bhayli, second in Surat district, and third in Kutch. In all three cases, the accused are migrants from other states. With awareness, a fear of the police is also needed. People are scared to send their daughters out of home for the first time in Gujarat. I personally feel that such elements shall be killed in an encounter itself.”

“I request the government that the police shall be given a free hand, and any of such rapists shall be finished in an encounter. That is my personal opinion,” he added.
