Surat: Three men, including a truck driver and cleaner, were arrested in Surat on Wednesday after police recovered a large quantity of waste fabric wrapped in national flags. Six national flags, along with several BJP and Congress flags, were found on the accused.
The incident came to light after social worker Tushar Solanki filed a complaint at the Kapodra police station. Solanki, a Punagam resident, had spotted the truck near the Mahadev temple in Kadodara on Tuesday night. Upon seeing the improper use of national flags, he contacted the police, who later arrested the driver, cleaner, and a third individual involved.
The accused were booked under Section 2 of the Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act. As per the police, six bags were made from the national flag, with additional bags containing political party flags. During questioning, the third suspect revealed that the fabric was sourced from the Pandesara area and was likely destined for Rajasthan for further use. DeshGujarat
