Platform 4 at Surat Railway Station likely to reopen in a week

Surat: Platform number 4 of Surat Railway Station, which has been closed for several months due to ongoing work under the Surat Station Redevelopment (Phase-I), is likely to become operational in the next 3-4 days.

Today, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Western Railway’s Mumbai Division will inspect platform number 4. If the DRM gives approval, the platform will be made operational. However, trains (shifted) currently departing from Udhna, including the Taptiganga Express, will continue to operate from Udhna station. Only special trains, if announced, will use platform number 4.

Surat station is undergoing a transformation and is being developed into a world-class facility. Under this, concourse work related to the Surat Station Redevelopment (Phase-I) on platform number 4 was in progress. As a result, the terminal for some trains originating from or departing from Surat was shifted to Udhana station, and this arrangement will remain in place until March 2025, even when the platform is reopened.

In another update, once platform number 4 becomes operational, work on platforms two and three is expected to begin after Diwali, and they will be closed for train movement. During this time, all trains currently using platforms two and three will be rerouted to platform number 4, meaning that all trains will operate from platforms one and four. DeshGujarat
