Porbandar: Porbandar Police raided the farmhouse of the infamous Bhima Dula near Adityana in Porbandar district and nabbed two persons, including Bhima Dula Odedara.

Police said liquor bottles, hundreds of live cartridges for pistols, rifles, and revolvers, four firearms, sticks, and sharp weapons were found at Bhima Dula’s farmhouse during the raid. Bhima Dula’s son, daughter-in-law, and wife are under scrutiny regarding the recovery of liquor bottles and weapons. Police said the probe is ongoing, and if needed, they will be booked and arrested.

Since 1975, as many as 48 offenses have been registered against Bhima Dula in various police stations, including offenses of murder. The last crime was registered against him in 2011. Many industrial units have, in the past, left the Porbandar area and relocated elsewhere due to extortion activities by Bhima Dula. Bhima was out on bail when he was nabbed early in the morning by the police yesterday.

Police have recovered over Rs. 91 lakh in cash from his farmhouse. The raiding operation was led by the district police chief, Bhagirathsinh Jadeja, himself early in the morning in connection with a case of assault on a Rabari community person on September 24. The Local Crime Branch of Porbandar Police was probing this crime, in which two accused were nabbed last evening, and they told the police they committed this crime under the instructions of Bhima Dula.

The latest crime case against Bhima Dula originated from a clash between Bhima’s aide and a Rabari community person in Boricha village over a bike overtaking issue. A tussle between the Rabari community complainant and Bhima Dula had been going on for the last two months over this incident. Bhima Dula and two dozen persons visited Boricha village recently and threatened the complainant in this case. On September 24, the Rabari individual was out with his cattle in the outskirts of the village when Bhima Dula’s aides attacked him, causing a bone fracture. Police investigated this undetected offense, checked CCTV footage, roped in private informers, and solved the case.
