Gandhinagar: Two former MLAs of the Gujarat Assembly have been served notice to vacate their government quarters as they no longer hold the MLA position. Congress MP and former MLA of the Vav assembly seat, Geniben Thakor, and former Visavadar MLA Bhupat Bhayani have received the notice asking them to vacate the government accommodation.
The government quarter in the possession of Geniben Thakor has been allocated to Petlad MLA Kamleshbhai Rameshbhai Patel.
According to the rules of the Road and Building Department, an MLA must vacate his/her government accommodation within six months after resigning from the post of MLA. Bhupat Bhayani resigned from his MLA position in December 2023, and Geniben Thakor resigned from the assembly in June this year, but both leaders have not vacated the government accommodation yet.
