Bhuj, 25 June, 2011
Mumbai Police have picked up two Muslims of Uttar Pradesh from Kutch’s Gandhidham on Thursday night in a secret operation. Though there’s no official confirmation, those taken to Mumbai for investigation in Mid-Day newspaper’s senior crime reporter J.Dey’s murder are identified as Khans. Both Khans are originally from Uttar Pradesh and they are associated with Tuna port of Kutch which is known for shady activities. Interestingly J.Dey had visited Tuna port last year and had filed a story on how Pakistan based Dawood gang supply drugs to India through dhows here. J. Dey had also made a story on illegal oil trade originating from mid-sea vessels. According to reports, J.Dey was doing a story on illegal red sandalwood export when he was murdered. Interestingly in January this year Rs. 60 lakh consignment of red sandalwood shown on paper as sanitary wares was seized by Customs.
