Surat Police nab two for selling Chinese Tukkal ahead of Uttarayan

Surat: Ahead of the upcoming Uttarayan festival, the Surat Police is cracking down on the sale of prohibited items like Chinese thread and Chinese tukkal in the city. In a recent operation, the Sarthana Police seized 250 Chinese tukkals from a kite shop near Jakatnaka.
According to the police, they received a tip-off that a shop called Patel Manjha and Kite Store near Parvati Nagar Society in Sarthana Jakatnaka area was selling Chinese tukkal in anticipation of the Uttarayan festival. Based on this information, the Sarthana police team conducted a raid at the shop.
During the raid, the police apprehended two individuals who were present at the shop to deliver a parcel of tukkal. The seized Chinese tukkal was reportedly purchased by a supplier named Ayush for Rs. 25 and then sold to two individuals, named Jay and Parv, for Rs. 50. These two individuals were then selling the tukkal for Rs. 100. By the time a single tukkal reaches the customer, its price is Rs. 200.
The police are investigating the matter further. The sale of Chinese manjha and tukkal are prohibited in Surat due to high risk of injury to humans,animals and properties. However plenty of such Chinese sky lanterns are available on online platforms, against which, police have been unable to do anything. DeshGujarat
