March 19, 2025
Ahmedabad: A planned trap operation by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) culminated in the arrest of a City Survey Superintendent cum maintenance surveyor and an associate today, for accepting a bribe of ₹7,500. The operation, triggered by a complaint from a vigilant citizen, exposed a corrupt practice within the Ahmedabad District Mojani Seva Sadan, Bhimjipura.
The complainant, a consultancy service provider, had applied for the registration of entries in three property cards for his clients at the City Survey Superintendent-3 office. After submitting the necessary documents, the complainant was contacted by Vashrambhai Sonabhai Chaudhary, the 29-year-old maintenance surveyor, who summoned him to the office. It was there that Chaudhary demanded ₹3,000 per application, eventually settling for ₹2,500 each after negotiation, totaling ₹7,500.
Refusing to succumb to the corrupt demand, the complainant promptly contacted the Ahmedabad City ACB, providing details of the bribe solicitation. Acting swiftly, the ACB laid a trap. As planned, Chaudhary engaged in a focused conversation with the complainant, accepting the agreed-upon bribe amount. He then handed the money to his associate, Brijendra Brijbihari Shukla, who placed it in a file on his office table. Both individuals were apprehended on the spot, caught red-handed in their act of collusion.
The successful operation was conducted under the supervision of Police Inspector Mrs. V.D. Chaudhary of the Ahmedabad City ACB Police Station and Assistant Director Mr. K.B. Chudasama of the ACB Ahmedabad Unit. DeshGujarat
