Gandhinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat today carried out a decoy operation and apprehended an RTO inspector and his accomplice red-handed while accepting a bribe of ₹1,000 at the Gandhinagar RTO office.
According to the ACB, applicants visiting the Gandhinagar RTO office are often asked to pay amounts ranging from ₹100 to ₹1,000 under various pretexts for online processing of their applications by RTO officials and staff. Based on this information, a decoy trap was planned today with the assistance of the decoy.
The decoy, disguised as an agent, approached accused RTO Inspector Hitendrasinh Jamsinh Parmar at the RTO office for the online processing of lifetime tax payments for two commercial vehicles of his client. Parmar directed the decoy to meet accused Dipen, alias Chintu Jitendra Rami. Upon meeting Dipen, the decoy was asked to get a correction form signed. The form was then sent back to the RTO inspector, who also signed it. Subsequently, the accomplice Dipen demanded and accepted a bribe of ₹1,000 for completing the process. Both accused worked in coordination and were caught red-handed at the scene while committing the crime. DeshGujarat
