Vadodara Traffic Police to Switch Off Signals During 1 to 4 pm Heat Period; AC Helmets Introduced
March 25, 2025
Vadodara: In response to the scorching summer heat, the Vadodara City Police have announced that traffic signals across the city will be switched off between 1 PM and 4 PM starting April 1st. This decision aims to protect citizens from prolonged exposure to the intense sun while waiting at intersections.
The city has already begun experiencing sweltering temperatures, with readings exceeding 37 degrees Celsius. To safeguard the traffic police personnel working under these harsh conditions, the police department has distributed 500 air-conditioned (AC) helmets. Officers were seen wearing these helmets while on duty starting Monday.
In addition to switching off the traffic signals during the hottest part of the day, the police will also erect tents at major intersections, similar to last year, to provide shade for commuters.
Furthermore, the traffic police have resumed using speed guns to curb traffic violations. In recent operations, 275 motorists were issued on-the-spot fines for speeding.
