Infosys to support Sabarmati Ashram’s heritage portal project
Ahmedabad, 21 July, 2011

Infosys, the second largest IT company in India will contribute in the making the Heritage web portal for Ahmedabad’s Sabarmati Gandhi Ashram.

Shri N R Narayana Murthy, the founder of Infosys during his recent visit to Ahmedabad, met the trustees of Sabarmati Gandhi Smarak Sangrahlaya and stated that Infosys will be actively contributing in the development of the portal.

Shri Murthy showed deep interest and passion for the Ashram’s activities and accepted an offer to get involved in the web portal project of the ashram. He also stated that the Team of Infosys officials will be coming to Gandhi Ashram very soon.

The Gandhi Ashram was built in 1917 and was one of the many residences of Mahatma Gandhi. The Ashram has a significant value because the Dandi march commenced from this Ashram in 1930. Mr. Murthy’s modest lifestyle proves that he is a true follower of Gandhi. This can be said that because, despite of establishing one of the biggest companies of the world and that too from scratch, he does not live an affluent lifestyle. He still resides in his simple residence and even performs the house hold chores.
