Ahmedabad hottest in Gujarat with 43.3°C maximum temperature

Ahmedabad: Gujarat continues to reel under intense heat as maximum temperatures crossed 43°C in multiple cities on Thursday, according to the latest weather report from the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Ahmedabad recorded the highest temperature at 43.3°C, 4.3°C above normal, followed closely by Gandhinagar at 43.2°C (5.1°C above normal) and Rajkot at 43.0°C (4.0°C above normal). Minimum temperatures across the region also remained above average, adding to the discomfort.
Deesa (41.8°C), Amreli (42.8°C), and Baroda (40.8°C) also experienced significant deviations from the norm. Coastal areas such as Veraval, Diu, and Dwarka remained relatively cooler, with maximum temperatures ranging between 31°C and 34°C.
Humidity levels remained moderate to high, with Diu, Rajkot, and Veraval recording relative humidity above 85% in the morning hours. The IMD has advised people to stay hydrated and avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during peak hours.
Notably, according to EMRI 108 data, Ahmedabad has reported an average of 18 heat-related emergencies daily. Dr. R.C. Damani of KD Hospital echoed these concerns, stressing the importance of hydration and minimizing sun exposure during peak hours.
