May 06, 2025
Gandhinagar: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has registered a bribery case against Chandrakant Shankardhan Gadhvi, Executive Engineer (Civil), Class-1, of the Gandhinagar Panchayat Irrigation Circle, for allegedly demanding a bribe during his tenure as Deputy Executive Engineer at the Irrigation Subdivision Office in Rapar, Kutch.
According to officials, the case dates back to 2021, when the complainant approached Gadhvi regarding the repair and deepening of a village pond. Gadhvi allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹15,000 to approve the work. The complainant recorded the conversation and reported the incident to the ACB. A trap was laid; however, Gadhvi did not accept the bribe money, resulting in a failed trap case (No. 01/2021) registered at the ACB’s Gandhidham post in East Kutch.
Subsequently, a preliminary investigation was ordered by the ACB headquarters in Ahmedabad. During the inquiry, the bureau found documentary, scientific, and circumstantial evidence supporting Gadhvi’s demand for the bribe. Based on these findings, and under the directive of ACB Director Shri Piyush Patel, an FIR (No. 02/2025) was lodged against Gadhvi on May 6, 2025, under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act (Amendment 2018) by Inspector L.S. Chaudhary at ACB East Kutch, Gandhidham. DeshGujarat
