Ahmedabad: The city witnessed heavy overnight rainfall, leading to widespread waterlogging in several areas, especially in the city’s western parts. The Mithakhali and Makarba underpasses were shut to traffic due to excessive water accumulation. Areas such as Vejalpur, Shivranjani Char Rasta, and adjoining localities also reported waterlogging.
According to the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation’s control room data, the heaviest rainfall between 10 pm and 6 am was recorded in the Jodhpur zonal office area (89 mm), followed by Bodakdev (64.9 mm) and Danapith (44 mm). The city recorded an average of 44.84 mm of rain overnight, with an additional 27.14 mm between 6 am and 8 am.
The water level in the Vasna Barrage is at 133.5 feet, and Gate No. 2 of the barrage has been opened.
While water receded from most areas by noon as the rain paused, the sky remains overcast. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted more rainfall in the city over the next 5–6 days. DeshGujarat
