Surat: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) of Gujarat has booked a police sub-inspector and a head constable for allegedly accepting a ₹40,000 bribe from an individual accused in a prohibition case. One of the officers was caught red-handed in an ACB trap.
The accused officials are PSI Amrut Vasava, posted at GIDC Chowki, and Head Constable Chirag Rathod from Navsari (Rural) police station. According to ACB officials, the complainant, who was booked under prohibition laws by Navsari rural police on May 13, had secured anticipatory bail and had visited the police to complete the arrest and release formalities. At that time, PSI Vasava and Rathod allegedly demanded ₹40,000 to proceed with the documentation.
The complainant reported the matter to the ACB, which organized a trap. During the operation, Vasava instructed the complainant to hand the money to Rathod, who was then apprehended while accepting the bribe. DeshGujarat
