Ahmedabad: In response to the large backlog of cheque bounce cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act in the city, the Gujarat High Court has decided to set up four additional courts at the Apna Bazar Bahumali Building in Lal Darwaja. These new courts start functioning from today to ensure faster and more efficient disposal of pending cases.
Ahmedabad currently has the highest number of pending cheque return cases in the state, with around 4 lakh cases awaiting resolution.
The High Court’s decision will bring the total number of physical cheque return courts at the Apna Bazar premises to 23. In addition, a judge has been appointed to an online court, bringing the overall count to 24 courts handling such cases. DeshGujarat
