Gujarat Cabinet approves changes in villages of new talukas in Surat, Mahisagar, and Kheda
October 07, 2025
Gandhinagar: In a cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel today, approval was granted for certain key changes in the villages included within some newly created talukas.
Providing further details, government spokesperson and Minister Rushikesh Patel said that in talukas with large geographical areas, citizens often have to spend considerable time, effort, and money traveling to the taluka headquarters for administrative work due to long distances.
To address this issue, ensure faster public service delivery, and accelerate the development process, the state government issued a notification on September 24, 2025, creating 17 new talukas, including Fagvel, Areth, Godhar, and Kothamba — in Kheda, Surat, and Mahisagar districts, respectively.
Now, after taking into account various representations received from district collectors and the public, as well as administrative convenience and citizens’ sentiments, some reasonable adjustments have been made to the villages falling under these talukas.
Additionally, the cabinet also approved keeping the headquarters of Fagvel taluka at ‘Fagvel’ instead of Kapdivav (Chikhlod).
Furthermore, the minister stated that the collectors of Surat, Mahisagar, and Kheda will soon issue notifications to implement these decisions. DeshGujarat
