Over 3.78 Lakh Passengers Travel Home for Diwali on 8,648 Extra GSRTC Buses

Ahmedabad: To ensure that citizens across Gujarat could celebrate Diwali comfortably in their hometowns, the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) operated 8,648 extra bus trips, transporting over 3.78 lakh passengers safely and on time, an official statement said.
According to GSRTC officials, these additional services were operated between October 16 and 20, 2025, across all divisions of the corporation to meet the festive rush.
Among the divisions, Nadiad recorded the highest number of extra trips—1,851 buses carrying around 64,000 passengers. From Surat, where many Saurashtra and North Gujarat natives, including gem artisans, reside, the corporation ran 1,300 trips that benefitted 68,000 passengers. Together, these two cities accounted for 3,151 extra trips, serving over 1.32 lakh passengers.
In addition, extra buses were operated from other major cities and depots across the state, including:

Overall, GSRTC managed more than 8,000 additional services from 12 major cities, ensuring smooth travel for over 3.78 lakh passengers during the festive season.
