Another child killed by lioness in Gujarat; 3rd attack in 24 hours

Gir Somnath: A tragic incident has been reported in the Gir forest region, where a lioness attacked and killed a two-year-old girl today. This is the third such incident in the last 24 hours in the state.
The attack occurred in Pichhvi, a village in Kodinar taluka of the Gir region. The victim, Aaradhya Harsukhbhai Makwana, belonging to a Maldhari family, was in the garden area of her house with her family when a lioness emerged from the forest, snatched the child, and dragged her into the forest. The incident took place in front of the girl’s mother. The body of the child was later found around a kilometre away from their home.
Upon learning of the incident, the Forest Department reached the spot immediately and launched an investigation. The child’s body has been sent to the Government Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Further investigation is underway.
This is the third recorded lioness attack on humans within 24 hours. Earlier, two separate incidents were reported in Amreli. In the first, a five-year-old child was mauled to death in Bagasara. In another incident, a farmer in Gidadri, a village in Khambha taluka, was attacked while he was diverting water in his field.
