Ahmedabad Police announces traffic restrictions/diversions on Sabarmati River Drive

Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad City Police Commissioner, G.S. Malik, has issued a notification announcing traffic restrictions and diversions on December 7, 2025, in view of the large-scale celebrations of the Pramukhvarni Amrut Mahotsav of Brahmaswaroop Pramukh Swami Maharaj. The event, organized by BAPS, will take place at the Event Centre on the Sabarmati Riverfront (West).
According to the notification issued under Section 33(1)(B)(C) of the Gujarat Police Act, the event is expected to witness the presence of important dignitaries along with a large number of devotees arriving within a short period. To ensure smooth traffic flow, avoid congestion, and prevent accidents, specific routes will remain closed for vehicular movement.
Road Closed for All Vehicles
The following stretch will remain closed for traffic: From Wadaj Smashangruh Cut to Ambedkar Bridge on Riverfront Road (both directions).
Alternative Route
Motorists can use the following diversion: Usmanpura Crossroads → Income Tax Overbridge (middle lane) → Bata Showroom → D-LINE Crossroads → Townhall Crossroads → Anjali Crossroads.
Exempted Vehicles
The restrictions will not apply to:

Vehicles associated with the event

Heavy and medium commercial goods/passenger vehicles

Government vehicles on official duty

Fire brigade and ambulance vehicles

Emergency movement of individuals with valid reasons
Implementation and Penalty
The traffic restrictions will be effective from 12:00 PM on December 7, 2025, until the event concludes.
