Over 5-km-long traffic jam on National Highway at Samkhiyali
December 13, 2025
Samkhiyali: Motorists are once again facing severe difficulties at Samkhiyali, known as the gateway to Kutch, as ongoing overbridge construction has triggered massive traffic congestion on National Highway 27 connecting the region.
Long queues of vehicles have formed on the Samkhiyali–Radhanpur and Samkhiyali–Maliya sections of National Highway 27, with the traffic jam stretching nearly 7 to 10 kilometres. The congestion has caused significant hardship for commuters and passengers, with vehicles moving at a very slow pace for hours.
Officials say the traffic snarls are mainly due to the narrowing of the roadway because of construction work, which has reduced vehicular speed. The situation is further aggravated by some motorists driving on the wrong side to bypass congestion, worsening the jam. Samkhiyali police teams have been deployed at the spot to regulate traffic and are making efforts to ease congestion and restore normal traffic flow. DeshGujarat
