Gandhinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to visit his home state of Gujarat next month. During the visit, he is expected to inaugurate the second Vibrant Gujarat Regional Conference (VGRC) for the Kutch–Saurashtra region, scheduled to be held at Marwadi University in Rajkot from January 10 to 12. The conference is set to witness the participation of a large delegation of foreign diplomats and investors from several countries.
Ahead of the event, senior officials of the Gujarat government held a series of meetings in New Delhi on Friday to attract both domestic and international investors. During these interactions, eight senior secretary-level officials engaged with representatives from more than 20 countries, including Russia, Israel, Singapore, the UAE, Indonesia, New Zealand, Finland, Canada, Sri Lanka, Oman, Iceland, Guyana, Rwanda, South Africa, Qatar, Tanzania, Uganda and Uzbekistan, and invited them to participate in the conference as partner countries. Discussions focused on investment opportunities in key sectors such as fisheries, ports, Dholera Special Investment Region (SIR) and tourism.
The regional conferences are being organised in the same format and scale as the original Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit, which has traditionally been held in Gandhinagar since Prime Minister Modi was the chief minister of Gujarat. Senior foreign delegates, leading industrialists from Gujarat and across the country, and global investors are expected to attend. The summit is also likely to witness the signing of memoranda of understanding (MoUs) worth several thousand crore rupees across sectors including agriculture, mining, automobiles, chemicals and artificial intelligence.
