Western Railway conducts Speed Trial on Adaraj Moti–Vijapur Broad-Gauge Line in Ahmedabad division

Ahmedabad: As part of the Adaraj Moti–Vijapur gauge conversion project, Western Railway’s Ahmedabad division recently conducted a successful speed trial on the newly converted broad-gauge railway line. A locomotive was run at a maximum speed of 136 km per hour on the Adaraj Moti–Vijapur section, marking a key milestone in the project.

The trial was conducted between kilometer 6/4 and kilometer 45/1 using a light engine. During the test, the track was thoroughly inspected by departmental trains, measuring instruments, and a team of technical experts to ensure safety, stability, and operational readiness.

Once operational, this railway line will be directly connected to the recently gauge-converted Ambaliyasan–Vijapur line, paving the way for faster, safer, and smoother train operations. The new broad-gauge connectivity is expected to benefit Ambaliyasan and the rural areas of North Gujarat, offering passengers a time-saving, secure, and convenient travel option.

Railway officials highlighted that speed trials are a crucial technical procedure conducted to verify the quality, stability, and safety standards of newly converted tracks before regular train services commence. DeshGujarat
