Ahmedabad cop’s quick response saves 21-year-old after kite string slashes neck
December 24, 2025
Ahmedabad: A quick decision by a city police constable saved the life of a 21-year-old man whose neck was slashed by a kite string on the Memco bridge on Monday evening.
The youth was riding his two-wheeler when the string caused a deep cut, leaving him bleeding heavily on the road. Police constable Bhavik Desai, who was riding just behind him, noticed the injured man and immediately stopped to assist. Instead of waiting for an ambulance, Desai rushed the critically injured youth to a nearby surgical hospital, a move doctors later said saved his life.
In the video of the incident, which has now gone viral, Desai is seen making the youth sit on his bike and rushing him to a surgical hospital barely 500 metres away. Doctors stitched the wound with 20 sutures and said any delay could have been fatal.
Desai stayed at the hospital until the youth’s father and brother arrived before leaving. A passerby recorded the rescue, and the video went viral on Tuesday, earning widespread praise for the constable’s swift action and presence of mind. DeshGujarat
