Western Railway extends OTP-based Tatkal booking system to 4 more Gujarat-passing trains
December 24, 2025
Bandra: Western Railway has introduced an important modification in the Tatkal ticket booking system in line with guidelines issued by the Railway Board. Under the revised process, Tatkal tickets will now be issued only after authentication through a system-generated One Time Password (OTP). The OTP will be sent to the mobile number provided by the passenger at the time of booking, and the ticket will be confirmed only after successful validation.
According to a press release issued by the Chief Public Relations Officer, Western Railway, Vineet Abhishek, the OTP-based Tatkal authentication system has already been implemented in 21 WR-originating trains. The system has now been extended to four more trains, with effect from 24 December 2025.

The new system will apply to Tatkal bookings made through computerized PRS counters, authorised agents, the IRCTC website, and the IRCTC mobile app. The move aims to bring greater transparency to Tatkal bookings and improve access for genuine passengers. Travellers are advised to provide a valid and accessible mobile number at the time of booking to ensure smooth OTP verification. DeshGujarat
