Valsad: Bhilad police have launched an investigation into an alleged slaughter incident involving a pregnant cow, reported on the night of December 24 in the Rohitwas area of Sarigam, after locals found two men at a secluded location.
According to information, the incident allegedly took place in a bush-covered area behind an industrial unit near Rohitwas. Acting on a tip from Gau Rakshaks, a Bhilad police team conducted a night raid at the spot. During inspection, police reportedly found that the throat of a pregnant cow had been brutally slit, and beef remains were recovered from the site. One of the men present at the location was nabbed by the Gau Rakshaks and handed over to the police, while his accomplice, identified as Saddam Khan, allegedly attempted to attack the Rakshaks with a sword before fleeing. He has been declared wanted by the police.
Preliminary questioning revealed that the two men had allegedly lured the stray cattle under the pretext of feeding it, with the intention of slaughtering it and supplying the meat to butchers, police sources stated. The Bhilad police team has seized suspected beef remains, knives, and other materials from the location, and further legal and forensic procedures are underway.
