CRS inspection, Speed trial underway on Adraj Moti–Vijapur rail line in WR’s Ahmedabad Division
December 30, 2025
Ahmedabad: The Ahmedabad Division of Western Railway has completed gauge conversion work on the 39.75-km Adraj Moti–Vijapur railway line. The section has been converted from meter gauge to broad gauge and is now ready for modern, safe and efficient train operations.
The safety inspection of the newly converted section is being conducted by the Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS), Western Circle, on December 29 and 30, 2025. A speed trial at 120 kmph is scheduled to be conducted on December 30, 2025, on the Adraj Moti–Vijapur broad gauge section.
In view of the inspection and speed trial, the general public, labourers, farmers and local residents have been advised not to approach or cross the railway tracks under any circumstances and to keep children and animals away from the railway line.
As part of the project, one major bridge, 44 minor bridges and 35 Road Under Bridges (RUBs) have been constructed on the section. The stations covered under this stretch include Unava-Vasan, Makakhad, Lodra and Vijapur.
Following the gauge conversion, significant improvements are expected in safety, punctuality and operational efficiency. The route will provide passengers with direct broad gauge connectivity to major railway stations and cities across the country.
Adraj Moti is an existing dual-gauge junction station, connecting the Adraj Moti–Gandhinagar–Ahmedabad and Adraj Moti–Kadi–Katosan broad gauge lines. Earlier, the Adraj Moti–Vijapur section functioned as a standalone meter gauge line, which has now been integrated into the broad gauge network.
The gauge conversion project is expected to create new employment opportunities, accelerate social, cultural and economic development in the region, and ensure environment-friendly, sustainable and faster rail connectivity. DeshGujarat
