Fire breaks out at residential apartment in Citylight of Surat

Surat: A fire broke out in a residential apartment building in the posh Citylight area of the city. The incident occurred in a flat on the fourth floor of Siddharth Residency. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
According to preliminary information, thick smoke was first noticed billowing out of a locked flat, and within minutes the fire intensified, triggering panic among residents. People rushed out of the building to safety. On receiving information, the Surat Fire Department rushed six fire tenders from the Majura, Vesu and Bhimrad fire stations to the spot. Firefighters managed to bring the blaze under control within minutes, preventing it from spreading to nearby flats.
The initial probe revealed that the fire was caused by a short circuit in a refrigerator. As no one was present in the flat at the time of the incident, loss of life was averted. However, household items and valuable belongings were completely gutted. Fire officials said cooling operations have been completed and the situation is now fully under control. DeshGujarat
