T20 World Cup Final in Ahmedabad; Police Announce Traffic Diversions
March 06, 2026
Ahmedabad: Traffic restrictions and route diversions have been announced around the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera for Sunday, March 8, when the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 final will be held.
The order was issued on Thursday by city police commissioner G.S. Malik under the Gujarat Police Act, 1951, to manage the large crowd expected for the match and to ensure smooth movement of VVIPs, players and officials. The restrictions will remain in effect from 10 am to midnight on March 8 and from midnight to 2 am on March 9 to regulate traffic after the match.
According to the notification, the stretch from Janpath T-junction to the stadium’s main gate via Krupa Residency T-junction up to Motera village will remain closed to general traffic. Only authorised vehicles with valid passes will be allowed in the stadium area.
Police have also suggested alternative routes for commuters. Vehicles coming from Tapovan Circle can travel via ONGC Crossroads, Visat T-junction, Janpath T-junction and AEC Powerhouse Crossroads up to Prabodh Raval Circle.
Traffic from Krupa Residency T-junction can be diverted through Sharan Status Crossroads and Bhat-Koteshwar Road towards Apollo Circle.
Emergency services, including ambulances, fire brigade vehicles and police units, will be exempt from the restrictions. Additional police personnel will be deployed at major junctions to manage the anticipated rise in traffic. DeshGujarat
