Ahmedabad Schools Advised to Revise Timings Amid Rising Temperatures
March 13, 2026
Ahmedabad: In view of rising temperatures and prevailing heatwave conditions in the city, the District Education Officer (DEO) has issued guidelines to all government, grant-in-aid, and private schools. A circular directs schools to make necessary arrangements to protect students from extreme heat.
Schools have been instructed to ensure the availability of clean, cool drinking water on campus. Due to the intense heat, schools have been advised to conduct classes only up to 12 noon for Balvatika to Class 8. Institutions have been given flexibility to take appropriate decisions regarding the implementation of these changes.
Teachers have been asked to spread awareness among students about precautions against heat-related illnesses. Students will be advised to avoid unnecessary exposure to the sun, drink adequate water, and follow measures to keep their bodies cool.
Board examination centres have also been directed to provide sufficient drinking water and basic facilities for students. DEO Rohit Chaudhary has instructed schools not to hold classes in open areas during the heatwave. DeshGujarat
