India Air Force(IAF) Squadron leader Ramakant today successfully made a new national record by undertaking a longest paramotor flight that covered the distance of 55 km. The record breaker adventurous flight took place between Kutch and Jamnagar over the gulf of Kutch today morning.
Squadron leader Ramakant’s record breaker paratmotor flight started from Bhadreshwar(Kutch) early in the morning and scaled a height of two to four thousand ft while crossing the gulf of Kutch. Shri Ramakant landed at the Golf ground of IAF base in Jamnagar after one hour and forty minutes.
According to Flight lieutenant Supriya Chitre of Jamnagar Air Force station, the earlier record of continuous paramotor sailing in India was 12 km long flight over Lakshadweep island. However today’s Kutch-Jamnagar flight distance was 55 km, and therefore it makes a new national record.
“This one is an ultra light flying machine which is known as powered paraglider. It uses 150 CC piston machine which is mounted on pilot’s back. This machine can fly up to 10,000 ft high and doesn’t need large land for landing operation. It flies at a speed of 45 km per hour. It can be useful for aerial surveillance, photography and other purposes. Its machine is considered as the lightest in the world,” Chitre said.
Squadron leader Ramakant has earlier established two national records. In 2008, he received national Tenzing Norgay Adventure award for his flying adventure.
