A year of record-break success at Alang ship-breaking yard

Bhavnagar district’s Alang ship-breaking yard witnessed arrival of highest number of vessels in fiscal year 2011-12.
During this year, the ship breaking yard witnessed arrival of record-break 415 ships.
In past, in any single year, maximum number of arrival of ships was 361. This happened in 1998-99.
The hottest period for business in financial year 2011-12 was entire month of March.
In just 29 days of the month of March, Alang ship-breaking yard saw arrival of 49 ships.
Alang is not just about ship-breaking. A huge rolling mill industry in southern Bhavnagar district, depends directly on Alang’s success.
As per the official figures available, at the end of the fiscal year 2011-12, Alang related secondary steel production reached whopping 38,56,072.60 metric tonne figure.
