By-polls on 10 seats are scheduled to take place in Gujarat on 13th September and Congress is again witnessing revolt.
In Morbi, district Congress president Brijesh Merja today joined BJP. Merja was Congress candidate in last assembly elections from Morbi seat. He was face of Congress party so far as Morbi was concerned. Merja has joined BJP when Morbi district’s Tankara assembly seat is witnessing by-election.
Another interesting development.Congress party’s earlier declared candidate on Tankara seat has joined BJP. Congress had earlier officially declared Dilip Mahadev Sardava as its candidate for Tankara seat, but after announcement of BJP candidate, Congress yesterday changed its candidate on this seat and replaced Dilip Sardva with Lalit Kagthara. Disappointed with party’s fresh decision, Dilip Sardva today resigned from Congress party and joined BJP.
In another development, seven top Congress leaders in poll-bound Jam Khambhalia today joined BJP as BJP candidate Mulubhai Bera filed nomination.
