GTU to host National Professional Training worskhop on Smart Cities

Gujarat Technological University (GTU) Graduate School of Smart Cities Development (GSSCD), has announced a National Professional Training Workshop on Smart Cities Development. The workshop is scheduled to be held on July 10 – 12, 2015 at GTU, Chandkheda, Ahmedabad campus in Gujarat.
For the first time in India, a special 3-day workshop to be held for Senior Policy Makers, Urban Executives and Municipal Officials, Urban Planners, ICT Professionals, Researchers and Heads of Non-Governmental Organisations. GTU has planned to invite variety of professional experts to provide training. In the workshop, one day will be dedicated for watching various projects and analyse them like GIFT city, Smart Urban Governance and Urban Renewal Mission, Prof. Rajnikant Patel, Hon. Director, GTU Graduate School of Smart Cities Development has announced.
This 3 days workshop would broadly cover the following key thematic aspects:
-Understanding Smart Cities (Concepts, Definitions and Practices)
-Smart Cities Bench Marks, Standards and Performance Measurement Indicators
-Technological Options for Smart Cities
-Financing Smart Cities Development
-Road Map and Safe Guards for Smart Cities
The Graduate School of Smart Cities Development (GSSCD) at Gujarat Technological University (GTU) was launched by Hon. Minister for Urban Development, Government of India, Mr. Venkaiah Naidu on April 18, 2015. With his inspiration, this training workshop has been organised. The main mission of the GSSCD will be a National Knowledge Hub and Centre of Excellence for human resource development for Government of India’s mission for 100 Smart Cities in India.
GTU Graduate School of Smart Cities Development (GSSCD) works on Education in Smart Cities, Research/Consultancy projects in Smart Cities Development, Advisories to governments, Capacity Building of government officials, and all the other aspects of smart cities to act as an effective National Resource Centre for Smart Cities Development.
Main objectives to establish the Graduate School of Smart Cities Development:
-To conduct research and studies on Smart Cities and related areas
-To conduct short certificate courses on related topics and One year Post Graduate Diploma courses on Smart Cities Development
-E-courses on various aspects of organization and life in smart cities
-To organising Seminars workshops /symposium /Conferences on Smart Cities Development in India
-Techno management consultancy in the field of Smart Development
-To carry out capacity building and training for smart cities related development
-Advisory functions to government and industry
