A delegation led by Mr. Guo Yuanqiang, Director General, Dept. of Commerce of Guangdong Province was on a two day visit to Ahmedabad, Gujarat for discussion and plans for the visit of the Hon’ble Governor of Guangdong Province to Gujarat in September 2015. The delegation consisted of people from Government and Industry. The delegation met with FICCI- Gujarat State Council members led by Mr. Rajiv Vastupal, Chairman FICCI-Gujarat State Council, Mr. Jatin Trivedi, FICCI-Legal Sub Committee Chairman, Mr. Rakesh Shah, Chairman & Managing Director, Gujarat State Export Corporation Ltd, Mr. Chiranjeev Patel, Director, South Asia, Entrepreneurs’ Organisation and Director, P. C. Snehal Group & Mr. Param Shah, Head, FICCI-Gujarat State Council.

During President Xi Jinping’s visit to India in September 2014, an agreement was signed establishing Sister City relationship between Ahmedabad and Guangzhou.  Gujarat and Guangdong had become Sister Provinces. The discussions during this meeting revolved around how to strengthen relations between Guangdong of China and Gujarat of India. Enhance cooperation in economy and trade, environmental protection, public policy education, health, science and technology, tourism and culture.

Both the sister provinces will also extend mutual cooperation in the fields of sports, youth affairs, urban planning, waste water management, infrastructure, environment, public health and exchange of economic and trade delegations.

FICCI has assured full support for facilitating a Conference followed by B2B & B2G meetings for the delegation led by Hon’ble Governor of Guangdong Province to Gujarat in September 2015.

The Chinese delegation was delighted with the meeting and emphasised that this meeting will be the start of the collaboration between Gujarat and China and encouraged FICCI to promote regular interaction.
