Ten days rally Ambaji-Koteshwar rally to save Kankrej cows from January 4

A unique rally to save Kankrej cows and other cattle of the breed in Gujarat would be started from the shrine city of Ambaji in North Gujarat on January 4 to reach Koteshwar in Kutch district after a ten days journey on January 13.
Addressing a press conference here today Mansukh Suvagiya of Rajkot based Jan Kranti Trust, the main organizer of the rally, today said that the declining number of pure Kankrej cows in last few year in the state was a matter of grave concern.
‘Gujarat has seen severe decline in Kankrej Cattle breed in last few years. In order to save this breed, for the first time a ‘Kankrej Cattle Revolution Rally’ is going to be organized. This rally would spread a social message regarding saving the cow and the breed. We have a target to create around 11 lakh cows of pure Kankrej breed with a milk producing capacity of 15 to 25 liters a day in times to come in the state through the messages during the rally. Around 37 cow conferences would be organized during the rally at various places,’ he said.
‘Starting from Ambaji the rally would cover different cities/districts of Gujarat like Sabarkantha, Arvalli, Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Mehsana, Patan, Surendranagar, Banaskantha and finally it will reach Koteshwar. The rally is scheduled to arrive Ahmedabad on January 6 to take a brief halt at Sola Bhagwat Vidyapith. Mr. P K Lahri Managing Trustee, Somnath Trust will also be present there,’ he said.
Mr. Suvagiya also expressed hope that the rally would spread wide awareness among lakhs of cattle owners and farmers in the 18000 villages of the state about the crisis regarding Kankrej cattle breed whose milk and ghee are deemed to be of very good quality and beneficial for health with many medicinal qualities.
