I&B ministry aproves new TV channel ‘CNBC-TV 18 Gujarat’

Gujarat may see one more Gujarati news channel in near future, as Information and Broadcasting Minister Ambika Soni, today cleared a proposal, to start new CNBC-TV 18 Gujarat channel.
Along with CNBC-TV 18 GUjarat, the central ministry also approved 21 other channels, that include, CNBC-TV 18 South, City Pulse, Krishna TV, Awam, Samaj, Mumbai News, Delhi News, Raj TV Asia, Kalaignar Asia, Apna News and ABN-Andhra Jyothy.
Presently, Gujarat has three Gujarati TV channels:Doordarshan-11(DD Girnar), E TV Gujarati and TV9 Gujarati.
While Doordarshan Girnar is government run news/information/entertainment television, E TV Gujarati is news/entertainment channel run by Hyderabad based Eenadu group. TV9 Gujarati is 24 hours Gujarati news channel, run by another Hyderabad based group. TV channel, Zee Gujarati recently went off air due to non profitability.
