In a talk with reporter Japan K Pathak in Ahmedabad, India’s topmost and hugely popular stand up comedian Raju Shrivastav on Wednesday said, the top three politicians that he likes in India’s present political arena are; Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Rahul Gandhi and Narendra Modi.

Raju said he doesn’t find any comical oddity in Narendra Modi to make his fun. Raju said he has heard lot about Gujarat’s development under the Narendra Modi regime.

Raju also said he is proud of the fact that his one of the laughter items hurt Pakistan based gangster Dawood Ibrahim.

“In post 26/11 Mumbai attack, when in one of my shows, I made fun of Dawood Ibrahim, Chhota Shakeel and Pakistani terrorists, I started receiving threat calls from Dubai and Pakistan. I was told that any funny remark on Dawood Ibrahim and Chhota Shakeel will not be tolerated. They threatened to kill me and also to kidnap my children. The situation turned so serious that Maharashtra Chief Minister too interest into the issue and provided me Police security. I am a comedian and having security men accompanying me was complete mismatch. Thanks God, I could escape that security cover within three months on my own wish. But I am proud of the fact that India’s enemies like Dawood and Chhota Shakeel were hurt due to my remarks. I am fortunate enough that I could hurt them at some point of time at least slightly. I will continue to make fun of them whenever situation demands,” said Raju.

Raju said, Baba Ramdev’s entry in politics should be welcomed, because politics need good and clean persons.

When asked how he continuously brings fresh items in his shows, Raju said he has devoted himself to this field. He would read pocket cartoon and ‘today’s joke’ sections first in any newspaper and then would read the news stories.

Raju said he never tells vulgar jokes in his show.”This is the reason why my shows are attended and enjoyed by entire family – from grand father to children.”

About doing Bollywood films, Raju believes that working with top four banners is alright, but for others he does not want to do side roles to waste his time and focus. “Better to concentrate on my comedy shows rather than running after hero in some film. Michael Jackson was star without doing a single film. Falguni Pathak is star without singing a single song in Hindi films,” Raju added.
