Ahmedabad, 15 February, 2012
Traders and shopkeepers of Vastrapur/Bodakdev area in Ahmedabad observed strike, and also sat on dharna opposing Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation(AMC)’s plan to build a Judges bungalow road-Sindhu bhavan flyover.
The shopkeepers said that their businesses will be adversely affected due to proposed flyover. They raised a question that while all other flyovers in the city are constructed on north-south direction, why this flyover has been proposed in east-west direction. They said the space under proposed flyover will turn out to be a nuisance for the locals. They said there’s no significant traffic on Judges bungalow road-Sindhu bhavan stretch. They said the flyover should be instead built in north-south direction over the SG Highway.
It should be mentioned here that the AMC has proposed to build a long flyover connecting Judges bungalow road(where Pride hotel, Pakwan restaurant are located) to Sindhu Bhavan(crossing the SG highway).
