Shawl gifted to Nawaz Sharif for his mother by Narendra Modi
New Delhi, 5 June 2014
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today tweeted that his Pakistani counterpart Nawaz Sharif had sent a white saree for his mother. Modi said he’s grateful to Sharif and will send it to mother very soon.
Modi tweeted: Nawaz Sharif ji has sent a wonderful white Sari for my Mother. I am really grateful to him & will send it to my Mother very soon.
Modi’s mother Hiraba lives in Gandhinagar in Gujarat.
Earlier during Nawaz Sharif’s visit to India last month, Prime Minister Narendra Modi had gifted a shawl for Sharif’s mother along with a compilation of Atal Bihar Vajyapee’s poetry.
Sharif’s daughter Maryam had on twitter expressed her gratitude to Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for gifting a beautiful shawl for her grandmother.
Maryam on her twitter handle @MaryamNSharif wrote that her father was so impressed with the gift that he personally delivered the shawl to his mother.
After a dinner with Nawaz Sharif at Rashtrapati Bhawan post his swearing-in ceremony, Narendra Modi had on twitter shared an interesting part of his informal talk with Pakistan counter part Nawaz Sharif.
Modi on twitter had said: Earlier in the evening in my conversation with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif he shared some very emotional things. Nawaz Sharif ji told me that he stays in Islamabad but goes to meet his Mother once in a week. This time when he was eating with his Mother he saw visuals on TV of my Mother offering me sweets. The visuals touched both Nawaz Sharif ji & his Mother. He told me that after seeing the visuals his Mother got very emotional.
