Rs 8 crore ‘Sudama Setu’ bridge over the river Gomti to connect Dwarka with Panchnad Tirth is almost built.
Reliance Industries Limited (RIL), in collaboration with the Gujarat Tourism Department and Pavitra Yatradham Vikas Board, is building ‘Sudama Setu’. RIL’s Shri Parimal Nathwani is personally taking interest for speedy implementation of this project.
The construction of the cable-stayed bridge on the river Gomti, connecting Dwarkadheesh’s Jagat Mandir and Panchnad Tirth is likely to be completed before the festival of Janmashtami this year.

The hanging bridge has been named ‘Sudama setu’ in fond memories of friendship of Dwarkadheesh Shri Krishna and Porbandar’s poor Brahmin Sudama.
At present, pilgrims use boats to cross the Gomti river to reach Panchnad on the opposite bank.

Once the ‘Sudama setu’ is completed, the pilgrims will be able to visit Panchnad or ‘panch kui’ (five wells) on foot.
The total length of the bridge is 166 metres and its width is 2.4 metres. It has the capacity to carry 25,000-30,000 persons an hour on foot.
